Willard Library 2024 Summer Reading

June 18, 2024

Once again, The Gilmore Education team will collaborate with Battle Creek’s Willard Library during this year’s summer reading program, which offers gatherings and incentives to encourage school children to read every day while school is out.

Part of the program includes “Super Tuesdays”: 10 am programs at the Miller Stone Building, 77 Capital Ave NE, through the month of July.

On Tuesday, June 18, The Gilmore will present theater artist and educator Teri Noaeill and jazz fusion pianist Brandon Fitzpatrick, who will share an interactive musical storytime with stories, poems, and movement.

“We love working in Battle Creek,” says Leslie Baron, Gilmore Education and Community Engagement Manager. “And we especially love bringing music to kids in unexpected ways. Willard’s Summer Reading Program offers it all.”

Brandon Fitzpatrick is a self-taught pianist who plays with Battle Creek-based jazz fusion group Minor Element. He is Co-Founder and Music Director of the Blvcksheep music collective, and minister of music at Stones Church in Kalamazoo

Teri Noaeill is Executive Director and Youth Programs Director for Battle Creek’s What A Do Theatre, and a Teaching Artist for Disney Musicals in Schools through the Wharton Institute of Arts and Creativity.

Additional program information is available on the library’s website, willardlibrary.org. Willard Library programs are free and open to the public.
